1876: Moved to Tokyo, Japan with his mother

September 30, 1886: Left Japan and entered the Westminster Prep school in San Francisco, California

1889: Entered the Pacific Theological Seminary in San Francisco

1890: Moved to Northfield Massachusetts, and entered the Mount Hermon Prep School

1892: Graduated from the International YMCA Training School (now Springfield College)

1892-1897: General Secretary, Japanese Branch YMCA, San Francisco, California  

1897: Enrolled in the University of Wisconsin, Madison

1899: Submitted Masters degree thesis

1901: Submitted Doctoral degree thesis

August 15, 1901: Married in Alexandria, Ontario, Canada, and moved back to Tokyo, Japan with his wife

1903: Started working at the Mitsui Products Co., Ltd in Tokyo, Japan

1905: Became general manager of branch of the company in Hamburg, Germany

April 4, 1906: First child Akemi (daughter) was born

1917: Returned to Tokyo, while his wife and daughter went back to Alexandria, Ontario (never returned to Japan)

1918: Left his job with Mitsui
