Frank H. Mahan
Born: October 17, 1867, in Griggsville, Illinois
Frank was the son of George and Sarah Hoyt Mahan.
Died: February 11, 1905, of pneumonia at the age of 37 in Springfield, Massachusetts
Wife: Maude McEwen Henderson Mahan (1868-1945)
Frank and Maude were married on July 5, 1893, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. They are both buried in Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn, Massachusetts.
Children: William Henry Mahan, Louise Mahan, Maude Mahan Nelson, and Hoyt Henderson Nelson

- Worked in the furniture business in Pine Bluff, Arkansas prior to arriving in Springfield to attend the International YMCA Training School

- While working at the YMCA in Charlotte, North Carolina, was appointed General Secretary for the association work among soldiers in Tampa, Florida during the Spanish-American War (Asheville, NC Citizen-Times, May 20, 1898)
- At age 37, was the first of the Original Team members to pass away
- Among seven Original Team players who were football teammates of Dr. James Naismith. He played football with Amos Alonzo Stagg on the 1891 team and with Dr. Naismith on the 1891 and 1892 squads
- Among the 18 Original Team members inducted into the inaugural class of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on March 3, 1959
