Wife: Frances Gertrude (Fannie) Bacon Ruggles (1868-1948)

Edwin and Fannie were married on Sept. 2, 1896, in Springfield, Massachusetts. 

Child: Helen Gertrude (Trudy) Ruggles Shaw

Items of Interest

  • Among seven Original Team members who were football teammates of Dr. James Naismith. He played football with Amos Alonzo Stagg on the 1891 team and with Dr. Naismith on the 1891 and 1893 squads
  • Inducted into the inaugural class of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a member of the Original Team on March 3, 1959
